1. Who We Are

AI EC ("we", "us", "our") is an online community, not a registered company. We operate primarily through a WhatsApp group and an associated members portal website (the "Portal"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you apply to join or use the Portal.


2. Information We Collect

When you apply for membership, we collect:

  • Full name
  • Mobile number
  • Email address
  • Country of residence
  • LinkedIn profile URL

If your application is approved, your profile — including some or all of the above — will be visible to other approved members on the Portal.

Future Features

We are developing additional features that will involve further data processing:

  • AI-powered member directory search: An AI tool will be able to search and surface member profiles.
  • LinkedIn bio scraping: We may retrieve publicly available information from your LinkedIn profile URL to generate a short bio for your directory listing.
  • Contact preferences: If you choose to allow other members to contact you, you may opt to share your WhatsApp number, email address, or both. Contact details will only be shown to other approved members based on the preferences you set.

We will notify you and request your consent before activating any features that involve LinkedIn scraping or surfacing contact details.


3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Verify your eligibility for membership
  • Display your profile to other approved members on the Portal
  • Allow other members to contact you (only if you choose to enable this)
  • Maintain and improve the Portal

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for marketing purposes.


4. WhatsApp Group and Membership

Our community operates via a WhatsApp group. Because all members of the same WhatsApp group can see each other's phone numbers, your mobile number is inherently visible to other group members as part of normal WhatsApp functionality — this is not something we control.

If you leave or are removed from the WhatsApp group, your membership on the Portal will be removed and your profile will no longer be accessible to other members.


5. Data Visibility

  • Your profile is only visible to other approved members of the community.
  • Contact details (WhatsApp/email) are only shown if you opt in.
  • LinkedIn bio information (when the feature launches) will be derived from your publicly visible LinkedIn profile.

6. Data Retention

We retain your information for as long as you remain an active member. If your membership ends (by your choice or due to leaving the WhatsApp group), your profile will be removed from the Portal. You may also request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.


7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Correct any inaccurate information
  • Request deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent for optional features such as contact visibility

8. Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your information. However, as we are a community-run portal and not a commercial service, we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not share sensitive personal information beyond what is required for your membership profile.

Legal basis for processing: We process your personal data on the basis of your consent (given when you apply for membership) and legitimate interest (operating and maintaining the community).

Your additional rights under GDPR:

  • Right to data portability — you can request a copy of your data in a machine-readable format
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests
